Soesterberg air base is ready for a new function. Located within the main ecological framework of The Netherlands, a large part of the site is to be transformed into nature. New functions are sought for the existing historic buildings. Vista developed a design concept and prepared a quality atlas for the site.

Different models were developed testing the ‘red-green balance’, the balance between development and nature. A feasibility study was completed for each model. It appears that a substantial boost to the quality of the area is possible with limited new construction. The plans focused on the integration of two new large ecoducts, the establishment of an aviation museum and the development of a high quality business park.
