Oostduin

On a part of the dunes of Scheveningen, the suburban edge remained frayed. The Oostduinlaan was planned as a way to finish off the city edge. It was made clear that no further expansion would be possible afterwards.

Vista’s solution is simple and effective: the space between the new housing is not designated as private garden, but as a continuation of the surrounding dunes and to be managed by the administrator of the dunes. The homes are situated among nature and the transition between town and dune has become much more gradual and subtle. Oostduinlaan shows how buildings and nature can coexist and add quality to the town’s edge.
