Route Design A12

One of the “large projects” from the Architecture policy document “Ontwerpen aan Nederland” (Designs for The Netherlands). The A12 forms a splendid transection of The Netherlands, as it connects the urban regions of The Hague, Utrecht and Arnhem and passes through the unique landscapes of the Groene Hart, the Utrechtse Heuvelrug (Utrecht Hill Ridge), the Gelderse Vallei, de Veluwe and the river area. Vista searched for the relationship between the freeway and its surroundings.

With the help of the layer approach, areas were identified for intensification, expansion and transformation. Each of these strategies provides specific starting points for actively reinforcing the identity of the freeway surroundings.
